  • Full-time, Continuing position
  • Salary Level HEW 9 + 17% Superannuation
  • Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, and hybrid ways of working
  • About You Reporting to the Senior Manager, Research Contracts, you will review, draft, negotiate, and recommend competitive and commercial research-related contracts entered into by the University.

    These contracts include research undertaken by the University following a competitive grant process or via commercial negotiation, sub-contracting of research services, collaborative research agreements, agreements relating to Co-operative Research Centres (CRCs), or funded Centres such as Centres of Excellence, and scholarship agreements.

    You will be required to extensively liaise with internal and external stakeholders, manage staff effectively, and be responsible for making commercially sound decisions with a level of autonomy.

    To be successful in this position, you'll have (in line with the position description):

  • Substantial contract management experience (ideally within the higher education sector).
  • Substantial experience in assessing and managing legal risks and dealing with issues such as intellectual property, insurance and indemnities.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve contractual outcomes closely aligned with the corporate and strategic frameworks.
  • A demonstrated understanding of the role of research and its importance to universities is highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and contract coordination skills.
  • Significant experience in stakeholder management, developing project a plans, reports and demonstrated ability to use and manipulate data from large corporate databases.
  • Demonstrated expertise in establishing and maintaining strong professional relationships and effective networks.
  • A law degree and some legal practicing experience would be advantageous.
  • Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
