The Gender Studies Programme at The Chinese University of Hong Kong is the first programme on gender studies in the tertiary education sector in Hong Kong. It is an interdisciplinary unit based in the Faculty of Social Science, offering Bachelor, MA, MPhil and PhD programmes. The forward-looking team of Gender Studies Programme is inviting applications for the position Part-time Lecturer to teach an Undergraduate-level course in Term 2, 2024-25 academic year. The course should concentrate on gender/ sex/ sexuality while there is flexibility on the exact theme of the course. Some examples of suitable areas:
i. Gender/ sex/ sexuality-related issues and health;
ii. Gender/ sex/ sexuality-related issues and migration;
iii. Gender/ sex/ sexuality-related issues in arts;
iv. Gender/ sex/ sexuality-related issues in languages;
v. Gender/ sex/ sexuality-related issues in non-Chinese societies; or
vi. Other gender/ sex/ sexuality-related topics.
Applicants should possess:
(a) a PhD degree and relevant research or teaching experience in gender/sex/sexuality-related areas; or a Master's degree with at least 4 years of outstanding professional credentials and relevant teaching experience;
(b) the ability to use English as a medium of instruction; and
(c) a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to teaching.
Those with prior teaching experience in tertiary educational institutions are preferred. There is no specific requirement for applicants' subject discipline (Sociology, Psychology, Public Health, etc.). Applicants with strong academic standing and who can teach a course that complements the current offerings of the Gender Studies Programme are preferred.

(c) a basic framework of the proposed course, which includes the title, brief description, an indication of the closest discipline perspectives to be used in teaching the course, and how the course maps to the candidate's background and the Gender Studies Programme;
(d) copies of academic credentials and relevant certificates; and
(e) evidence of teaching performance, if applicable.
Applications will be accepted until September 15, 2024 but earlier applications are preferred.
