Our work takes place in cooperation with and in strategic agreements with companies, organisations and public authorities in the region.

A full-time employment as a doctoral student is attached to this third-cycle studies which corresponds to four years.

Position description

The PhD student position is expected to join a funded research project SmartCircle on Smart Circularity Implementation. The candidate conducts research with 10 partner companies in the project and will work on five use cases on smart circularity implementation using advanced digital technologies. The PhD student will undertake the following major tasks:

-Conducting a systematic literature review on smart circular economy in manufacturing industry -Working on five use cases on smart circularity implementation -Designing and conducting empirical data collection and analysis through the case studies from partner companies -Disseminating the research work in the form of articles to conferences and journals -Co-production with partner companies in the project

Qualifications

For basic eligibility , the following is required:

  • A degree at an advanced level.
  • At least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 are at an advanced level.
  • Equivalent knowledge acquired in Sweden or abroad through other means.
  • specific eligibility requirements to be admitted to Industrial Systems are those who have the above general entry requirements with a technical specialisation and with a relevant main subject or equivalent.

    Assessment criteria

    Prior to employment, consideration must be given to the ability to assimilate third-cycle courses and study programmes at a higher education. We are looking for a student with a background in product development, production development, industrial engineering, industrial economics, business engineering, or related disciplines. We will use the following assessment criteria:

    - Strong background in product or production or industrial or business engineering - Good knowledge of circular economy, business models, and digital technologies - Good knowledge of digital technology integration in the use case - Good knowledge on qualitative case studies - Good knowledge in co-production with companies - Good knowledge on manufacturing industry - Sufficient proficiency in oral and written English - Experience in teaching

    In an overall assessment of suitability, emphasis is also placed on personal abilities.
