DescriptionWe solicit applications for experienced Agronomists for Professor Himanshu Mishra's research Group in King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia (https: // interfaciallab.kaust.edu.sa).
Expectations:
Our goal is to enhance the sustainability of growing food crops and native trees in the desert environment of Saudi Arabia. This necessitates an amalgamation of knowledge and experience in agronomy, soil science, engineering methods, and precision agriculture in semi- and hyper-arid regions. Specifically, we will be testing the effects of soil amendment technologies pioneered by our laboratory for boosting water-use efficiency (Superhydrophobic Sand mulch, SandX) and nutrient-uptake efficiency (biochar). We seek agronomists with practical experience and knowledge in growing trees/bushes/shrubs in hot and dry regions. Consideration will also be given to those with experience in horticulture, agricultural engineering, and soil chemistry. Successful candidates will contribute to our translational research in collaboration with stakeholders in the Kingdom and beyond. The applicant should have:

QualificationsWe seek only ambitious individuals who are critical thinkers, independent, creative, dedicated, open to working in fields, and like to solve problems. This work will also require travel within Saudi Arabia to establish greening sites or fields and building and managing relationships with stakeholders at multiple levels (e.g., government and non-government entities, industry, field workers, & scholars). You will be supported by a talented multidisciplinary team of engineers, materials scientists, plant scientists, technicians, and field workers at KAUST.
