  • About This Opportunity

    An exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow/Research Officer (Educational Researcher) where you focus on advancing research in graduate attributes within the Blue Economy sector. This position involves collecting, analysing, and reporting on survey data from students and industry participants, with the goal of understanding and enhancing graduate employability skills for future marine industry roles. You will engage with academic and industry stakeholders, contributing to impactful educational research aligned with the Blue Economy Cooperative Research Centre's (BE CRC) objectives.

    Key responsibilities will include:

  • Research: Conduct high-quality research on employability and graduate attributes, leading to reputable journal publications and conference presentations. Design and analyse surveys, focus groups, and interviews involving current and alumni BE CRC students and industry partners to evaluate graduate employability skills. Collaborate on publications and presentations to advance research in educational frameworks for Blue Economy fields. Support knowledge transfer through industry reports, conference sessions, training packages, and the commercialisation of UQ intellectual property. Develop a coherent research program with an emerging profile, drawing on best practices in research methodologies.

  • Engagement and Reporting: Actively engage with industry partners to identify essential graduate skills, guiding the design of surveys, focus groups, and interviews. Develop training modules and resources to translate research findings into actionable insights for educational institutions, industry stakeholders, government, and the BE CRC Board. Participate in stakeholder meetings and workshops to share updates and gather feedback and prepare reports summarising research outcomes and progress toward project milestones.

  • Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise Honours and Higher Degree by Research students, supporting their development and ensuring effective guidance. Manage research support staff according to University policies throughout their employment, addressing conflicts and grievances promptly and professionally.

  • Citizenship and Service: Exhibit citizenship behaviours that reflect UQ values, demonstrating leadership through collaboration and active engagement in key initiatives. Support academic roles and unit operations during team absences, contribute to internal service roles, decision- making, and committees. Engage in external service activities and initiate partnerships with industry, government, professional organisations, and the broader community.

    About You
  • PhD or near completion in educational research, survey analysis, or a relevant discipline.

  • Emerging research profile with experience in survey design and data analysis.

  • Demonstrated ability to publish in high-quality journals and present at conferences.

  • Strong skills in engaging and collaborating with industry stakeholders, preferably within the Blue Economy or related sectors.

  • The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre- employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, education check, mandatory immunisations, etc.
