This new part-time (0.65 FTE) position is available from 1st November 2024 until 31 July 2025 on a fixed-term basis.
This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.
The PostWe are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to play a key role in our recently funded GaitQ / Innovate UK: UK – Switzerland Bilateral study. This is an exciting new collaboration where we set out to adapt and evaluate established hardware/software tools and bring these together as an assessment for people with movement disorders such as Parkinson's. This is an exciting opportunity to work with both an SME and a vibrant growing research grouping. The research fellow will be responsible to Prof Dawes. The post holder will work closely with a grouping of multidisciplinary talented researchers within the Exeter BRC and Intersect@Exeter. This post would be suitable for a postdoctorate seeking wider experience in applied clinical research to develop their portfolio of clinical research expertise, biomechanics and movement science skills and to develop their expertise in clinical trial management.
You will join a dynamic, vibrant and growing research team at Exeter. This post would be suitable for a PhD-holder seeking wider experience in applied clinical research to develop their portfolio for research fellow posts, or for an individual with experience in trial management and seeking to develop their expertise in trial management.
The post will include, interviewing patients and focus groups, PPIE events arrangements and support, travelling to NHS sites and visiting patients at their homes. Data analysis and report writing.
About you
The successful applicant will be able to develop research objectives, projects and proposals; conduct critical scientific research and promote transdisciplinary collaboration between other grant partners to deliver specific deliverables; contribute to the process of securing funds and make presentations at conferences and other events.
Applicants will possess a relevant PhD in, Rehabilitation Science, Sports sciences, Physical therapy or Public Health or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants will be able to communicate with patients, conduct interviews, have teamwork skills, travel to the sites and visit patients at their homes, and have data analysis skills using Excel and SPSS, be familiar with thematic analysis.
