We have an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Cell- Based High Throughput Screening to join our research team at the Centre for Medicines Discovery, Nuffield Department of Medicine, to independently develop cellular assays relevant to cancer, then produce high throughput phenotypic screens using pooled CRISPR/Cas9 Functional Genomics and arrayed CRISPR libraries.
Reporting to the Head of Cellular Screening, you will work closely with other principal investigators in the TDI, Xcellomics, and the University of Oxford as well as with academic collaborators. You will be responsible for independently developing and running various assays for target validation and CRISPR screening using multiple readouts including high-content imaging and plate-based readouts. Various cell lines, iPS, or patient-derived cells will be used. You will be leading projects, and taking responsibility for suggesting, constructing, and executing a project plan in conjunction with other members of the Cell Screening Facility/Xcellomics or collaborators. You will be tasked with presenting the work of the TDI/Xcellomics to both internal and external audiences through conferences and manuscripts, providing facility tours, and providing educational outreach in collaboration with the NDM Outreach programs.
To be successful in this role, you will hold a PhD/DPhil (or close to completion) in cell-based functional genomic research techniques or another relevant subject. You will have experience developing or using additional high throughput readouts including qPCR, FACS, and platereaders for cell-based assays. Particular emphasis is on developing and validating cell-based assays and cell-based target validation assays. You will be proficient in employing iPSC cell lines for validation of potential targets, including novel models or readouts.
