About the Job

As the PR and Communications Manager, you will play a key role in crafting and delivering creative PR and digital content strategies for one or more of our academic schools. Your work will align with our Vision 2028 priorities, showcasing the exceptional people, research, and initiatives that set UEL apart.

In this highly visible role, you'll lead media engagement, create captivating written and digital content, and use your strategic mindset to craft compelling narratives that resonate with journalists, stakeholders, and digital influencers. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional eager to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

About You

You are an experienced PR or communications professional with a passion for storytelling and brand building. Your excellent verbal and written communication skills enable you to convey complex ideas in ways that captivate audiences. You're adept at fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, from senior leaders and academics to journalists and digital influencers.

With substantial experience in public relations, communications, or journalism, you possess a keen understanding of how traditional and digital platforms can be leveraged to build reputation and engagement. You thrive on meeting deadlines, managing competing priorities, and producing high-quality content.

What You'll Need to Thrive:

  • A minimum BA Hons. or equivalent professional experience in public relations, communications, or journalism.
  • Proven ability to pitch to a variety of media outlets and build strong media relationships.
  • Exceptional digital content creation skills, including video editing, podcast production, and social media engagement.
  • Strong knowledge of SEO and experience with tools like PR software, CMS platforms, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strategic planning and project management skills with the ability to deliver results on tight deadlines.
  • About External Relations Directorate

    The directorate is made up of several teams including Communications & Engagement, Marketing, Recruitment and Conversion, Outreach and Access, Change, and Transformation (Design and Digital), Events and Advancement, and the International Office.
