Morakniv is a strong brand which has been associated with top-quality knives for over a century. The company continues to be a symbol for Swedish craftsmanship and tradition whilst also being a sustainable, modern company. All production takes place in Mora in Dalarna, where high-quality functional knives for a variety of purposes are manufactured. Customer groups include both professional users and outdoor enthusiasts worldwide.
Now the company, in collaboration with Dalarna University, is launching a new development project with the aim of producing knives capable of lasting a lifetime. New state-of-the-art laboratory equipment is available, and it is time for the lab to become an integral part of production. The lab will conduct structured tests and evaluations regarding properties such as sharpness of the edge, steel quality and overall performance. Your role as a KTP project manager: The project aim is to establish an environment and process structure for the company's material laboratory. Your role as project manager will be to integrate the lab into the production process through efficient use of machinery and equipment. This includes the development of advanced methods for measurement and testing, material performance, and knowledge transfer to members of staff at Morakniv. The lab is to become a natural and integral part of the company's sustainability and development work in selecting materials, testing out competitors, and working on new innovative products and services. You will also be involved in research projects with customers.
As the project is a collaboration with Dalarna University, which has a long established expertise in materials engineering and materials science, the project manager and the company will have access to expert coaching, resources and research-related expertise throughout the project period.
Together with the company, an academic coach from the university and a business coach, you will solve the mission – to improve the performance of the knives and create more sustainable products.
Are you the person we are looking for? We are looking for a highly motivated and analytical recently graduated engineer in materials engineering or another field that the company deems equivalent. The minimum requirement I s that you have completed academic courses in metallic materials. You are meticulous, receptive to input from others, and have the ability to see connections that can lead to improvements. You will be part of a team working towards common goals, so both teamwork and being self-driven are important in this role. You will meet a lot of people, both at the company and externally, so you need to be social and have good communication, collaboration and relationship-building skills. You must be proficient in English, both spoken and written.
It is advantageous if you have previous experience working in industry and manufacturing companies as well as project management experience. It is also an advantage if you have worked with systems with RFID and/or QR codes. An ability to communicate in Swedish is also advantageous. What is KTP (Knowledge Transfer Partnerships)? KTP is a collaboration model between industry and university that creates an exchange of new knowledge. We offer a challenging project to a recent graduate (2 years since graduation) at a company where you not only apply your theoretical knowledge but really put it to the test in practice. About the position: The position is a fixed-term employment, 100% with an end date of 13 December 2024 (6-9 months depending on start date).
