About the role
The Bodleian Library has a vacancy for a part time Projects Assistant at its Book Storage Facility (BSF) in Swindon. The BSF is a high-density storage facility housing the Libraries' collections. Readers in libraries across the University order items from the facility and these are delivered on the same or next day. Items are retrieved and refiled from racking locations using wire guided Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) forklift trucks.
As a Projects Assistant you will support the Projects of the BSF by flexibly performing a variety of tasks in response to customer demand. This will include operating manual handling equipment (i.e. Low-Level Order Pickers), ingesting material using the in-house storage system, processing material in the Ancillary Building and inputting data and scanning documents on request.
This is a permanent, part-time post, working 20 hours per week (7am to 12pm Monday-Thursday)
This role requires lifting and carrying boxes of library materials.
In this role you will be required to drive the book delivery van.
About You
You will have previous experience of warehouse operations, a current driving licence, have the ability to operate manual handling equipment and be comfortable working as part of a small established team. Attention to detail is essential in order to process items according to a numerical sequence as well as computer skills and operating company-based software. You will also have a customer-focused aptitude, a “can do” flexible approach to work and being a supportive member of the team.
