About the role

Applications are invited for a Research Assistant to work with Dr George Stothart and Professor Liz Coulthard across multiple research projects conducted by Dr Stothart's Fastball Lab and Prof. Coulthard's Remembr Group.

Our research focuses on the clinical and cognitive neuroscience of dementia and includes studies to validate new electroencephalography (EEG) markers of cognitive impairment for use in the diagnosis of dementia, as well as several studies examining the role of sleep in dementia pathogenesis and treatment.

Your role will involve extensive contact with dementia patients and carers, clinical and research staff. You will be responsible for patient recruitment, data collection and management across multiple studies, with a primary focus on assisting the Fastball i4i study (see links below). You will be trained to administer EEG recordings, take and process blood samples and administer standardised neuropsychological assessments.

This role is offered on a full time (36.5 hours per week) fixed term basis with an expected end date of 31/12/2027.

About you

You must have experience in working directly with patients with neurological disorders, experience or interest in cognitive neuroscience and be comfortable with being trained to take blood samples.

Have an undergraduate degree in psychology or neuroscience. The role will involve frequent travel between the University of Bath, Southmead Hospital in Bristol, and GP surgeries in Yate, therefore candidates must have a full driving licence and access to a car.

You will be hardworking, well-motivated and able to work as part of a collaborative research team.
