The Department of Linguistics and Modern Languages is young and vibrant, devoted to the study of language and mind, with strengths in theoretical linguistics, language acquisition, bilingualism, sign linguistics, and language disorders. We are seeking applications for the position of Research Assistant Professor, who will primarily be responsible for working on projects related to neurocognitive modeling of language learning and processing. Candidates should have a strong background in Neurolinguistics and/or Psycholinguistics, as well as a solid quantitative experience in neuroimaging, machine learning, language intervention, and/or large language models.

Applicants should have (i) PhD in Linguistics, Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field; (ii) postdoctoral research experience and/or a strong journal publication record commensurate with rank; and (iii) computer programming experience in MATLAB, Python, C++, or other languages. Prior experience with fNIRS, EEG, and/or fMRI research is highly advantageous.

The successful candidate is expected to (a) conduct research as the main duty; (b) actively pursue external research grants, such as General Research Fund, in the capacity of Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator; (c) co- supervise and mentor students at undergraduate and graduate levels; and (d) undertake minimal teaching duties at undergraduate and graduate levels.

The appointment will normally be made on contract basis for up to three years.
