Research Assistant Professor

Applicants should have (i) a doctoral degree; (ii) at least one year of postdoctoral experience in one of the following research areas: a) intelligent medical robots design, modelling, control, and pre-clinical experimentation, b) medical image AI, including dataset development, deep- learning methods for medical image analysis, and multi-modal AI perception for robot collaboration/interaction; (iii) strong research accomplishments in grants and publications; (iv) active involvement in writing grant proposals; (v) the potential to become an independent researcher in obtaining future/sustained extramural funding and establishing significant externally- funded research programmes; (vi) a strong sense of responsibility and team spirit; and (vii) a good command of both Chinese and English.
The appointee is expected to work together with the research team to: i) conduct research and take charge of the identified research area and generating high impact research papers in the field of intelligent medical robots; ii) support the Lab director in coordinating the research project and profiling impact stories with the research outcome; iii) mentor junior research team members (e.g., postdocs, research assistant, and postgraduate students) in their research; iv) participate in and support external major grants application. The appointee is expected to apply for external competitive grants as Principal Investigator (PI), such as general research fund (GRF), innovation and technology fund (ITF), and National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), under the guidance of the Lab director.

Appointment(s) will normally be made on contract basis for up to three years initially, which, subject to mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment.
