Main Duties & Responsibilities of the role:

  • To contribute to the review and summaries of relevant literature for the project.
  • To undertake participant recruitment and data collection.
  • To analyse and interpret qualitative and quantitative data, making use of appropriate qualitative research methods and techniques.
  • To report and present information to the project team, including production of short findings reports.
  • To keep accurate and up-to-date records of activities relating to the project.
  • To contribute to the promotion and dissemination of the project and its pedagogical outputs across the University and in external conference presentations.
  • To comply with University policies relating to health and safety, equality of opportunity and data management.
  • Comply with relevant legislative and other requirements (e.g., the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR; Health and Safety; UKVI; and Equality and Diversity) in all working practices
  • Any other such reasonable duties as required by the Head of School / Deputy Head of School

    Job Title: Research Assistant

    Faculty/Directorate: School of Health and Social Care Professions

    Grade: E

    Job Purpose:

    To support research projects, conducting research, analysing results and generating original ideas. This post is funded by a research award from Social Care Wales in which we will survey, interview, and run focus groups with Social Care Workers in Wales.

    Main Duties & Responsibilities of the role:

  • Undertake research by preparing, setting up, conducting and recording the outcome of field work, the development of questionnaires and conducting surveys.
  • Undertake research by preparing, setting up, conducting, and recording the outcomes of qualitative methods such as interviews and focus groups.
  • Conduct literature and database searches.
  • Contribute to and/or produce research reports.
  • Present information on research progress and outcomes to the project team.
  • Actively participate as a member of a research team.
  • Attend and contribute to relevant meetings.
  • Make use of standard research techniques and methods and computer assisted data analysis techniques such as NVivo 9, Excel, SPSS (or JASP) or other statistical packages.
  • Deal with problems which may affect the achievement of research objectives and deadlines.
  • Plan own day-to-day research activity within the framework of the agreed project.
  • Comply with relevant legislative and other requirements (e.g., the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR; Health and Safety; UKVI; and Equality and Diversity) in all working practices.
