Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a full time fixed-term position as a Research Assistant on the SFI-funded, Cythoheterosis project in the AgriBiosciences, Food Security and Climate Resilience Lab group of Prof. Charles Spillane with Agriculture, Food Systems & Bioeconomy Research Centre at the University of Galway, Ireland.
This position is funded by Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) and is available from 23rd February 2025 to contract end date of 31st July 2025. Within the Research Group of Prof. Charles Spillane the Research Assistant will work within a highly dynamic research team focused on using advanced genetic and epigenetic approaches to improved yields of crops by enhancing heterosis (hybrid vigour effects). The Research Assistant will join a heterosis genetics research team (conducting both fundamental and applied research) which is funded by Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) and consists of both postdocs and PhD students.
Salary: Research Assistant salary scale €31,962 - €41,943 per annum, (subject to the project's funding limitations), and pro rata for shorter and/or part- time contracts.
