Job Description
The primary focus of the project will be a critical review of research problems and research questions as presented in peer-reviewed journal articles. The Research Assistant will: • Contribute to the selection of relevant use-inspired/transdisciplinary/R4D research journals • Review the submission and review guidelines of each selected journal and document relevant guidance on research problem and/or research question presentation • Identify research articles published in selected journals during the relevant period (to be determined by research team) • Review each article to identify and describe the research problem and question, and extract information that explains how they were defined by the authors • Critically assess each research problem and question following a protocol designed by the research team • Contribute to the analysis, synthesis and reporting
The Research Assistant will also have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing work in the Sustainability Research Effectiveness program to develop, test and further refine a Transdisciplinary Research Quality Assessment Framework and other program work. There is the possibility of longer-term renewal of the position.
Job Requirements
• Master's degree in a relevant field • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (SPSS skills considered an asset) • Good qualitative and quantitative research experience and skills • Good critical thinking skills and sound judgment • Ability to learn concepts quickly and apply them effectively • Evaluation experience • Understanding and experience with peer-reviewed research publishing • Strong writing skills • Good interpersonal and team skills
Additional Information
This is a casual, on-call position from February 1, 2025 to March 31, 2025. The hourly rate is $28.00. Due to its limited term nature, this position is not eligible for enrolment in the University's Benefits Plan, but you will be provided with 4% in lieu of vacation.
