A position exists for a Research Associate in Rapid Aerothermal Testing at the Department of Engineering.
You will join the Whittle Lab to support the development of a novel functional sentencing test rig. For this role, you will have experience in a wide range of engineering disciplines and have a proven track record of successfully delivering aerothermal technology development projects. We are looking for a diverse skillset, including good organisational skills and the ability to research, problem-solve, design, and implement ideas in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. In this role, you will be required to have a practical approach, a positive attitude, and be a good communicator.

The post holder will be located in the Whittle Lab., West Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK.
The key responsibilities and duties are to design build and test a novel functional sentencing rig. This will require you to create and execute computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations, design the rig in CAD, manage and execute the build, run the aerothermal testing and process and communicate the results.
The skills, qualifications and experience required to perform the role are a combined numerical, experimental and low order modelling PhD in a gas turbine high pressure turbine aerothermal engineering related field.
Salary Range: Research Associate: £36,924 - £45,163
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 9 months in the first instance.
