The Opportunity
MACSYS is the world's largest focused research initiative in mathematical biology. We unite biological, mathematical, computational scientists to develop innovative mathematics and computational technologies to understand and predict outcomes in bacterial cells. This is a frontier research effort in Microbiology. Our mission includes creating mathematical whole-cell models (WCMs) of bacteria for in silico biology to complement traditional in vivo and in vitro approaches. We tackle fundamental biological problems and establish a world-leading research and biotechnology translation environment. We emphasise equity and diversity in research training and outreach into communities.
