We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic software engineer to work with us on pioneering projects in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Bath.
You will support internationally leading research across the department, in particular contributing to leading the translation of research outputs into innovative and successful software. Your activities are likely to include the creation of impact through the development, testing and deployment of high quality software products, and assisting in the development of programming skills amongst key research staff. Projects will span a variety of application areas springing from the department's research strengths.
You will be creative and self-motivated, with the openness and adaptability to contribute in a wide range of application areas from virtual reality to healthcare. You will have a strong background in programming and software development. You should be experienced in and committed to software development best practices and know how to adapt these to research contexts. You will need to have excellent communication skills and a talent for technical problem solving.
Experience of training or tutoring software development would be an advantage. This could range from running basic programming, version control and testing workshops, to training and assisting students in the use of specialist tools, hardware and software platforms and methods.
Further informationThe position is available full-time (36.5 hour per week) and fixed term for 2 years, with a possible extension depending on funding becoming available.
