The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research University of Copenhagen
We are looking for a motivated Research Software Engineer to support the data management activities of the Data Analytics Platform at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR). The expected start date is 1 April, 20025, or after agreement.
About us The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR) was established in 2010 to conduct fundamental research on metabolism. The Center has around 260 employees, consisting of 21 research groups and 5 technology platforms, who work in a vibrant international research environment with a focus on interdisciplinary collaboration. Our researchers share a common purpose as they seek to transform the basic understanding of the mechanisms involved in metabolic health and disease, and to accelerate this knowledge toward new prevention and treatment strategies. The Center's research has resulted in seminal discoveries as to how genes, hormones, and environmental factors influence metabolic health and disease throughout life. You can read more about us here: www. cbmr.ku.dk.
The Data Analytics Platform sits at the heart of CBMR and consists of seven full-time employees. The Platform supports CBMR research by providing expertise and support for data management and processing to scientists. In total, we integrate data from >500,000 biological samples and our measurements include information on genetic variation and other omics data, anthropometrics and biochemical measurements. The Data Analytics Platform operates an on-prem high-performance compute cluster and has a leading role in the Center's cloud activities. Your job Your main task will lie in supporting our scientists with research data management. This includes gathering and curating data from various origins to make information findable and available to researchers. Governance of the data needs to adhere to best practices for sensitive records, which is particularly important when migrating files to HPC systems (internal and external), cloud resources or working with third party databases.
You will work closely together with bioinformaticians and researchers at multiple levels. We expect you to expand and integrate our current phenotypic database with other heterogeneous data sources, such as genotyping data and data from the Danish registries. This will include documentation and basic quality control of the data variables. The platform also develops web- applications enabling users to query the data as well as to upload new information.
