Research Software Engineer

Statistics, 24-29 St Giles', Oxford, OX1 3LB

This exciting position is an opportunity to join the Oxford Protein Informatics Group (OPIG) on a permanent basis, developing and supporting the group's world-leading open source computational tools, which are in use across academia and industry. Several such tools have been taken in-house by pharmaceutical companies, and this role includes supporting these companies with deployment, maintenance, future developments and integration with their own in-house systems and requirements. The postholder will expand the external impact of these platforms as well as developing and implementing future strategy. The role will also involve carrying out research and tools development in one of the research group's areas.

The successful candidate will hold a relevant PhD/DPhil with post- qualification research experience, including prior experience of collaboratively developing software tools and significant experience with coding in a wide variety of languages and platforms. You will be capable of working independently and strategically, and be able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people.

We proudly hold a Race Equality Charter Bronze Award and a departmental Athena SWAN Silver Award, which guide our progress towards advancing racial and gender equality. As part of our commitment to openness, inclusivity and transparency, we would particularly welcome applications from women and black and minority ethnic candidates, who are currently under-represented in positions of this type at Oxford. Applicants will be selected for interview purely based on their ability to satisfy the selection criteria as outlined in full in the job description. You will be required to upload a statement setting out how you meet the selection criteria, a curriculum vitae, and the contact details of two referees as part of your online application. Please note that applicants are responsible for contacting their referees and making sure that their letters are sent to [email protected] directly by the closing date.

Please direct informal enquiries about the post to Professor Charlotte Deane ([email protected]) or Dr Fergus Boyles ([email protected]), quoting vacancy reference 174960.

Only applications received before 12.00 noon UK time on 1 November 2024 can be considered. Interviews are anticipated to be held on 15 November 2024.
