  • About This Opportunity

    We are seeking a motivated, Brisbane-based professional with a strong scientific background and a desire to establish a successful sales operation at the BASE facility. This will include building a team to expand our client base across Queensland and Australia and establishing sales operations at the BASE Facility, developing successful strategies to grow customer sales and drive the adoption of mRNA technologies across Australia. You will work closely with BASE scientists to understand mRNA technologies, provide technical expertise, and ensure product quality.

    This role also involves working directly with clients to help develop mRNA vaccines and therapies according to their specifications. Key to success in this role will be the ability to establish and maintain strong, long-term relationships with customers. You will collaborate with existing and new clients, and build relationships with government, academic, and commercial sectors within the fast-growing mRNA industry. Additionally, you will develop and implement innovative ways to engage with clients nationally to raise the profile of BASE.

    Key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the sales of mRNA products and LNP formulation services across Queensland and nationally.
  • Build a high performing team to successfully execute the strategy.
  • Develop and execute national strategies to promote BASE products and services.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring an in-depth understanding of their needs.
  • Provide product information and technical guidance to potential and existing clients.
  • Participate in business development activities, including identifying and securing new opportunities with industry partners.
  • Travel interstate to meet clients, attend conferences, and represent the BASE facility at industry events.
  • Collaborate closely with BASE scientists to understand new innovations in mRNA technologies and translate them into customer solutions.
  • Work with the production team to ensure timely delivery of high-quality mRNA products.
  • Prepare proposals, reports, and presentations related to technical products and services.
  • About the BASE Facility

    The BASE Facility, at the University of Queensland (UQ), is a leading national site for mRNA research and manufacture. The BASE Facility provides end-to-end services that enable researchers to develop mRNA candidates, from initial sequence design, manufacture and testing. We are Australia's largest supplier of mRNA and have produced over 400 mRNA vaccines and therapies for more than 100 laboratories nationwide. This has provided our scientists with the unique experience to build high-quality mRNA vaccines and therapies according to our client specifications.

  • About You
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Business, or similar
  • Familiarity with the biotech industry, particularly in the realm of pharmaceutical or research-based products, and experience with mRNA or LNP technologies is preferred, although training will be provided
  • Demonstrated experience in sales, with a proven track record in meeting or exceeding sales targets, ideally within the biotechnology or life sciences sectors.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute business development and marketing strategies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build long-term relationships with clients.
  • Willingness to travel interstate and attend conferences regularly.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, including research and production.
  • The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre- employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, criminal check, education check etc.
