The Stockholm Environment Institute's centre (SEI York) at the University of York is seeking to employ a research associate to join an exciting and expanding team addressing air pollution and climate change. You will focus on activities related to including air pollution in private sector company value chain assessments with a view to setting company targets to reduce air pollution alongside their climate commitments.
SEI is an international research organisation conducting policy-relevant environmental research around the world. Our York Centre is based at the University of York and is one of eight SEI centres located across the world. SEI York has a broad research profile covering five main research areas: air quality and climate change; nature-society relations; sustainable consumption and production; managing natural resources, and urban environments and human health. We have a strong academic track record as well as an international reputation of producing highly credible evidence-based science-to-policy research, engaging with and supporting decision makers at different scales across the World.
RoleYou will join SEIY's air quality and climate change team who works internationally to support the development of integrated strategies for the mitigation of air pollution and climate change. A key focus of this research supports the activities of the World Economic Forum (WEF), the Clean Air Fund (CAF) and the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) related to the private sector. You will focus on working with the WEF-coordinated Alliance for Clean Air, aiming to quantify and reduce air pollutant emissions across its members, and you will engage with companies to develop air pollutant emission inventories, scenarios, and targets across their value chains. You will engage with various stakeholders, provide technical guidance, and contribute to their capacity building, and help them to develop emission inventories, mitigation scenarios and assess how these policies improve health, reduce climate change and other benefits.
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed:PhD or equivalent experience in environmental science, or another relevant subject, which may include aspects of corporate social responsibility and private sector impacts on the environment;
An interest in the interplay between science, socio-economic impacts and development using a systems-based approach;
