Senior Building Surveyor
Job description
Finance, Infrastructure & Commercial Services (FICS)
Estate Services
This full time, permanent role is available December 2024.
Summary of the role
The University of Exeter is seeking to recruit a Chartered Building Surveyor with significant and demonstrable post-qualification experience to act as a Senior Building Surveyor and undertake the delivery of complex projects, including extensive Long Term Maintenance elements, through the leadership of multi-disciplinary teams, in Estate Services.
The position will involve project management, design, supervision and contract administration of variably sized refurbishment and alteration projects with values ranging from £25k - £5m. A wide variety of workload can be guaranteed and the role will suit an enthusiastic surveyor who wishes to pursue a career in a client organisation.
Estate Services also has significant responsibilities for organising planned maintenance to the estate, with values typically in the range of £25k to £2m. You will be expected to advise on technical matters, deal with general estate issues relating to such planned and reactive maintenance and become involved with the update of the Quality Management System.
Candidates will be expected to be MRICS or MCIOB and experience in a similarly large and complex client organisation would be a significant advantage. The successful candidate must also be able to demonstrate previous experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams, together with planned maintenance programmes. Remuneration will be competitive within the market and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The successful applicant will be required to take responsibility for other members of the surveying team, such as junior surveyors or clerks of works and must be able to work under his/her own initiative.
The post is a hybrid position with three days a week based on the Streatham Campus and it offers the opportunity for the successful applicant to build upon existing surveying and management skills.
Please ensure you read the Job Description and Person Specification for full details of this role.
