The Steroids and Metabolism Group explores how steroid metabolism and function influences human physiology and health. Current focus is on the investigation of the mechanisms that link steroids to human metabolic dysfunction and disease including sex differences in the metabolic response to androgens.
We use a range of human in vivo, ex vivo and in vitro model systems and routinely use mass spectrometry for the exploration of the steroid metabolome, often in conjunction with machine learning approaches. Our lab features two state-of-the-art liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry platforms (Xevo TQ-XS). We are looking for a self-motivated scientist to undertake a programme of research that links steroid biochemistry to metabolic dysfunction using in vitro and ex vivo approaches and employing a wide range of methods relating to molecular and cell biology, biochemistry and analytical chemistry.
The successful candidate will have PhD in a relevant discipline and extensive postdoctoral research experience in steroid biochemistry. They are also expected to have a strong track record demonstrated by excellent scientific first author publications as well as having expertise in steroid analysis by tandem mass spectrometry.
This role qualifies for endorsement by UKRI for a UK Global Talent Visa, for which the successful applicant is likely to be eligible to apply.
Final appointment will be subject to pre-employment screening
