We are now looking for one or several senior lecturers in social work who can strengthen the research and education environment.

Subject area

Social work.

Subject area description

Social work includes studying the living conditions and experiences of people in socially vulnerable situations. Writing and the use of language in different forms and contexts are central to the practice of social work. Social work involves studying the causes and consequences of social problems, as understood at individual, group and societal levels. Social work is the main subject at first-, second- and third-cycle levels.

Duties

The duties include teaching, research, and collaboration with the surrounding community. The tasks mainly consist of teaching, supervision, and examination within the social work program, but also our advanced level programs. The teaching includes both theoretical knowledge and practical skills that social workers need in their professional practice. The tasks also include course and program development assignments as well as participation in the department's pedagogical development work. There may be requirements to teach in most programs and courses at the department.

The position also involves fulfilling the administrative tasks that belong to a teaching position and eventually being able to participate in and carry out various management assignments. It includes actively participating in the department's research environments and seminar activities. Since externally funded research is an important prerequisite for the department's and individual teachers' research activities, the tasks include actively participating in the department's work to seek external funding.

Eligibility

Behörighet för anställning som universitetslektor finns angivna i 4 kap. 4§ högskoleförordningen samt Employment arrangements for teaching staff at the University of Gothenburg with local application at the Faculty of Social Sciences.

Behörig till anställning är den som har avlagt doktorsexamen i socialt arbete eller i näraliggande ämne, samt har visat pedagogisk skicklighet.

Assessment criteria

When assessing applicants, equal weight will be given to scientific and pedagogical skills. Importance is also placed on administrative and other skills relevant to the content and duties of the position.

In assessing scientific skills, publications of high scientific quality will be considered first. Additionally, documented ability to initiate, plan, and conduct research, as well as the ability to obtain competitive research funding, will be valued. Pedagogical skills must be well-documented, meaning both the extent and quality can be assessed.

The appointee must have the ability to collaborate, both internally and externally, and contribute to the development of the department's educational and research activities.

Applicants must have a good ability to teach in Swedish/Scandinavian languages and also be able to teach in English.

If higher education pedagogical qualifications in accordance with the requirements at the University of Gothenburg (courses PIL101, PIL102, and PIL103) are lacking at the time of application, these must be validated, or the specified training completed, within one year from the start of employment (see https: // pil.gu.se/resurser/meriter).
