Job description

Faculty of Health and Life Sciences

This new part-time post (30% FTE) is available immediately on a fixed term contract to 31 July 2026 in DClinPGR-Psy within the Department Psychology.

This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.

The role

We are seeking to appoint a new Senior Lecturer. They will have a particular interest in developing and delivering teaching in Psychoanalytic Research, Theory and Practice. They will also take the lead in coordinating International Engagement including support for international students and international collaborations within the programme

Within DClinPGR-Psy, on the DClinPrac Res & the DPPClinPrac you will have responsibility for contributing to the managing and monitoring of aspects of the clinical, academic and research components of the training programme and the associated operational administration, curriculum development, and quality management and enhancement (including supporting the accreditation / registration by relevant professional institutions where appropriate). You will work with module and programme leads, the Director of Portfolio and the Director of DClinPGR-Psy to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of teaching programme in accord with the Faculty's education strategy and implementing the External Affairs strategy. You will also contribute directly to teaching on the programme and across DClinPGR-Psy where appropriate and to the development and implementation of innovative teaching practices across DClinPGR-Psy

Specific Purposes of the job:

  • Advertising and publicity for the programmes, internationally.
  • Supporting international applicants to the programmes.
  • Supporting Portfolio staff in relation to international students and EDI more generally
  • Coordinating support for international students on the programmes.
  • Supporting and developing international collaborations with other organisations.
  • Contribute to EDI developments within the portfolio
  • Overseeing development and delivery of the timetable in line with the curriculum
  • Oversee assessment strategy including module descriptors, marking process in line with TQA
  • Contribute to Moderation as needed
  • Contribute to Accreditation / registration submissions as needed
  • Support and mentor academic tutors
  • Support recruitment alongside the Director of portfolio and programme leads
  • Provide teaching as needed
  • About you

    For a Senior Lecturer post you will:

  • Possess a depth or breadth of specialist knowledge demonstrated by a doctorate level training or the equivalent and have completed a BPC accredited psychoanalytic psychotherapist or Jungian analytic clinical training having attained the core knowledge and skills relating to psychoanalytic psychotherapy clinical practice, in order to teach and support learning on academic area.

  • Possess a good honours degree in Psychology or the equivalent in a related discipline (at least a 2:1 or equivalent)

  • Have a consistent track record of excellent teaching across a variety of modules and levels within your discipline as might be expected of a very experienced HE Teacher.

  • Contribute to the design, development and delivery a range of modules or programmes at various levels; applying innovative and appropriate teaching techniques; identifying sources of funding and securing funds for own scholarly activities and providing academic leadership to those working within programme areas.

  • Be expected to work towards Senior Fellow of the HEA and to attend formal CPD relating to this.
