Senior Research Assistant in the Division of Public Health Laboratory Sciences of the School of Public Health (Ref.: 528892) (to commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability)
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in Science with 3 years' relevant laboratory work experience. They should have a good command of spoken English and excellent English writing skills; the ability to communicate in Putonghua; good computer knowledge including Chinese typing; good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; and the ability to work well in a team. Experience with python/R/Perl, and unix/Linux environment is preferred.
The appointee will assist in projects related to genomic sequencing and database management. He/She will maintain and improve existing NGS sequencing assembly and analysis methods; develop pipelines for sequencing data analysis; participate in regular meetings with the research team to share progress and insights, discuss findings, and refine research methodologies; organize and maintain a comprehensive sequence database and prepare data reports. He/She will also provide research support to the research team, communicate with various laboratories based in China, and undertake any other duties as assigned.
