DUTIES
The University and Employment Preparation Department at Thompson Rivers University invites applications for a sessional lecturer to teach the following course in Fall 2024 to students in Lillooet: STSS 0600 - Personal and Academic Success Strategies.
Course description: Students learn methodologies and strategies necessary for ongoing academic success and a healthy university/life balance. Topics covered include time management , learning styles, reading strategies, test taking, communication, diversity, group dynamics and money management.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Master's degree in a relevant field required • Applicants must have a degree in a relevant field (including a number of courses in the topic) required • Teaching Certificate, or Instructor's Diploma, or 5 years teaching experience plus evidence of engagement in the scholarship of teaching and learning required • Experience teaching students whose educational, social, and economic backgrounds are diverse, and for whom previous school experience may have been challenging required • Skills in building intercultural understanding, empathy and mutual respect (TRC CA 63) preferred. • Experience integrating Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods (TRC CA 62) preferred. • Teaching excellence including developing culturally appropriate curricula (TRC CA 10) preferred.
