The Department of Internal Medicine and Clinical Nutrition, at the Institute of Medicine, conducts research in several different areas, such as endocrinology, hematology, gastroenterology, hypertension, respiratory medicine and allergology, and clinical nutrition focusing on body composition and energy metabolism. The research is conducted in close collaboration with health care at both the Sahlgrenska University Hospital and Mölndal Hospital.
Sleep research is important for understanding the mechanisms behind sleep and developing effective treatments for sleep disorders, which can improve both individual health and societal productivity. The Center for Sleep and Wakefulness Disorders at the Sahlgrenska Academy has been conducting translational research in this area for several decades and is seeking a statistician for advanced analysis of sleep, respiratory, and cardiovascular biosignals in both smaller clinical studies and large epidemiological cohorts. The research group is interdisciplinary and works on epidemiological, mechanistic, diagnostic, and therapeutic studies around clinically significant sleep and wakefulness disorders such as sleep apnea and insomnia.
DutiesThe position as a statistician involves working with biostatistics, data science, and data management in the studies conducted by the research group (clinical studies with biosignal analysis, large epidemiological cohorts, quality registers). The tasks include all steps from data acquisition to performance of analyses and presentation of analysis results. You will work with several simultaneous studies linked to various research and doctoral projects. You will have the opportunity to explore and pursue your own questions and projects within the scope of research explored by the study group.
