Objective of this post:
The objectives of this post are to:
• Support and participate in the design, development and delivery of the School's educational programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including, but not limited to, the MPharm Programme
• Provide teaching support across a wide range of areas associated with pharmacy education including lectures, pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical science labs
• Participating in the delivery of our teaching and learning strategy including the effective use of technology enhanced learning
RCSI is seeking a professional who is passionate about educating, who would like to contribute to working as part
of a team in a multicultural environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate energy, initiative and excellent organisation and communication skills.
Specific Responsibilities include:
• Helping the module lead(s) with preparation and delivery of lectures/workshops/labs/tutorials in the broad area of pharmacy and pharmaceutical science.
• Utilising a student-centred approach to all duties so as to ensure optimal educational outcomes
• Helping module leads in the preparation and delivery of assessments in pharmacy and pharmaceutical science ensuring at all times that teaching material is in line with international best practice, on our undergraduate and post-graduate programmes, as required
• Participating in the delivery of our teaching and learning strategy including the effective use of technology -enhanced learning
• Exploring and facilitating opportunities to enhance public and patient involvement and engagement in education
• Curation, management and coordination of patient cases for use across multiple modules/years.
• Provide support as needed for staff coordinating inter-professional learning (IPL) activities.
• Meet with guest lecturers and facilitate them delivering content.
• Assisting with curriculum mapping and other programmatic needs as required.
• Assisting in the preparation and implementation of timetables.
• Assisting in the updating of teaching material.
• Dealing with and responding to correspondence
• Providing technical and operational support as needed, including utilising and administering RCSI's Virtual Learning Environment.
• Contributing to the quality assurance/quality improvement of all programmes delivered in the School
• Developing and co-ordinating outreach events, open days etc.
• Promoting the best interests of RCSI at all times, enhancing the School's reputation in both pharmacy practice research and education
• Undergoing programmes of training and development as may be required
• Performing such other duties as may be required from time to time
Person Specification Essential:
• Has a BSc and ideally a postgraduate degree in a closely related discipline that would complement the pharmacy/pharmaceutical science expertise within the School
• Has knowledge and experience of providing education or training,
• Has excellent presentation and verbal communication skills,
• Has the ability to design and deliver effective education,
• Has excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as a member of a team,
• Is highly organised with a high degree of attention to detail and has excellent IT skills,
• Has the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships,
• Has excellent influencing and negotiating skills,
• Requires minimum direction to effectively deliver on assigned functions, and demonstrates a positive, student–centred and solution focused approach to addressing challenges and ambiguity,
• Has some flexibility regarding the working schedule
• Has a passion for working in the third level education sector

Person Specification Desirable:
• Experience in in the area of pharmacy or pharmaceutical sciences
• Experience of working in the third level education sector and/or for a multinational organisation.
