Curtin University invites applications for the role of Technical Operations Coordinator , a key position designed to drive the operational excellence of our Kalgoorlie Campus's technical facilities, supporting Western Australian School of Mines, Minerals Energy and Chemical Engineering (WASM:MECE). This role offers the unique opportunity to lead a team dedicated to supporting cutting-edge teaching and research in the heart of Australia's mining industry.
This is a Monday to Friday position - no weekends - giving you the freedom to enjoy the unique lifestyle that Kalgoorlie offers. In addition to Curtin's generous leave entitlements, if you are required to travel to Perth, you will receive an extra 15 hours (or 2 days) of annual leave each year. Curtin's TOIL/Flexi-time system , also offers you the flexibility to take additional leave as needed.

Your New Role
As Technical Operations Coordinator , you will be at the forefront of managing day-to-day operations for laboratories, workshops, and research facilities, ensuring optimal resource allocation for Metallurgical Engineering and Mining Engineering activities. You will lead a dedicated team, fostering a collaborative, high-performing environment through mentorship, training, and performance management.
An exciting aspect of this role is your involvement in the development of Curtin's state-of-the-art Pyrometallurgical facility. This multi-million- dollar project will be a major asset to the WASM Campus, and you will play a key role in its delivery.
Your responsibilities will extend beyond operational oversight to include resource planning, staff coordination, safety compliance, and the development of standard operating procedures. You will also work closely with the Technical Operations Manager (TOM), Kalgoorlie Campus Director and Head of School (HOS) to ensure that the team's objectives align with the needs of the school, and that health and safety regulations are consistently upheld.
