Technician (Extended Reality)

Student And Academic Services Campus Support Grade 5 - £25,742 to £29,605 per annum, dependent on experience

Sheffield Hallam University Technical Operations Resources and Services (TORS) are excited to welcome a new team supporting both hardware and creation of software and utilisation in direct student support and self- directed learning. If you are passionate about teamwork, customer service, facilitation of learning, then we could be welcoming you as our new Technician.

You will be working with a team, testing software and hardware and facilitating teaching and self-directed study groups across our teaching portfolio including Healthcare training, creative media, and our new £12 million development in the Institute of Technology.

You do not need to be an expert across all our software packages (e.g. Oxford Medical Systems) or hardware (e.g. XR headsets), however you must be pro- active, adaptable and flexible to enable you to trouble shoot during sessions you are facilitating.

Although this role sits within the healthcare area, you will work across our whole estate, City, and Collegiate campuses, so it's a great opportunity to contribute to the full portfolio of TORS services.

For this job we particularly welcome applications from minority ethnic applicants who are underrepresented in this area/ this type of job at Sheffield Hallam.

The role is not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route so if you are an international applicant, you will need to ensure you have an appropriate visa to evidence the necessary right to work in the UK.

This job involves working with or having regular contact with children and/or vulnerable adults. All employers are required to access the criminal records of people seeking to work with children and/or vulnerable adults. This is referred to as a DBS check and is obtained from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

If you are successful, you will be asked to apply for an Enhanced check through the DBS. You will be sent a DBS Application Form and guidance at that stage. Please note that you cannot begin employment until a satisfactory disclosure has been received. A criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from taking up the post, but its relevance to the duties of the role will need to be assessed before the appointment is confirmed.
