About us Curtin's high functioning Marketing Operations and Engagement department drive digital marketing innovation and student recruitment activities to keep pace with the market, improve effectiveness and meet changing customer expectations. The UX team operate as part of the Digital Experience team, and together are responsible for crafting leading digital experiences that delight and empower future students on their journey towards personal growth and meaningful impact.

Your new role As User Experience (UX) Manager, you will play a critical role in the Digital Experience team. Working closely with the Deputy Director Digital Experience, you will lead and manage a team of UX/UI Designers and Developers, creating world-class digital experiences for future students, whilst supporting brand, acquisition and engagement activities for the University.

This role includes overseeing the planning, design, development and continual optimisation of the future student websites that attracts over 8 million visitors annually, ensuring they are user-friendly, functional and engaging to our diverse audiences. Your mission? To lead UX endeavours and ensure a deep connection with our audience across Curtin's future student website portfolio and drive us confidently towards our objectives. Here's how you'll make it happen:

  • Lead Strategic Planning and Execution: Take the lead in enhancing Curtin's future student website portfolio by implementing UX strategies and ensuring alignment with the needs of future students and the goals of University Marketing and key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate and Engage Effectively: Forge strong partnerships with University Marketing teams, stakeholders, and external agencies to meticulously plan and execute UX design projects, marketing campaigns, and events. Together, we'll ensure seamless user journeys that amplify student recruitment efforts and advance our brand's strategic vision.
  • Ensure UX Governance and Operational Excellence: Lead the continual improvement and implementation of UX processes, design systems and web theme development, whilst championing UX best practice across the University.
  • Drive and Leverage Research and Analysis: Implement and champion UX research principles and techniques, ensuring all work is informed and driven by user-centric insight.
  • Guide Development and Technology: Lead the front-end development operation of Curtin's future student website portfolio, ensuring optimal performance of all front-end features and functionality.
  • Inspire and Lead a Highly Skilled Team: Lead a team of UX professionals with skill and vision. Through effective workload prioritisation and supportive coaching, you'll empower team members to excel in their roles and foster their professional growth.
  • To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Completed relevant qualifications, alongside extensive work experience in the UX design field
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience leading and managing a team within the marketing industry with a focus on UX design and driving innovative solutions in the digital space
  • Expert knowledge of customer centred design balanced with commercial acumen
  • Demonstrated planning and management skills and a record of successfully delivering business outcomes for an organisation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across an organisation and develop strong relationships and networks.
