Birkbeck, University of London, has an exciting opportunity to join the User Services team as a User Services Assistant and make a difference to its student experience in 2025.

The User Services Assistant will play a key role in providing a high-quality IT and Library customer-focused service, while working at the service desk and responding to enquiries in-person and online.

You will also be involved in students' induction and orientation, and will carry out communication and marketing activities including social media and the creation and maintenance of user guides.

The role is offered at part-time on Wednesday's from 16.00 to 24.00 (7 hours), and you'll participate in team working to cover the online and in- person enquiry service.

To be a successful User Services Assistant you will have:

  • Previous experience of working in a public-facing role and as part of a team,
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills,
  • Commitment to the provision of an excellent customer service to library users.
  • We offer training, and expect the post-holder to develop knowledge in many areas to assist with one-stop frontline enquiries about areas including: WiFi, printing, access to College platforms like Moodle, resources, membership, library facilities and study environment.

    Salary and benefits:

    Actual £5,514 rising to £6,058 per annum, Grade 3 of the College's London Pay Scale is £27,568 rising to £30,292 per annum FTE (pro-rated). The salary includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.

    Contract :
