About Georgian College

Georgian College was founded in 1967 during the inception of the College System of Ontario. Twelve of its co-op education programs have been accredited by the Canadian Association for Co-operative Education (CAFCE). Three of its health programs were given a high accreditation rating. Canada's Public Health Agency accredited its Veterinary Assistant and Veterinary Technician programs. The Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC) presented the college with the CCAC Certification of Good Animal Practice (GAP).

Georgian College has seven campuses in various areas across Ontario, encompassing an area of 21,000 sq km. Barrie Campus is the largest campus and is home to an Art Gallery, Changemaker Space, fitness center with climbing wall and gymnasium, Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre, Indigenous Resource Centre, innovation labs, library, on-campus residence, nursing simulation labs, six public health and wellness clinics, student lounges, theatres, videoconferencing. 

The Robbert Hartog Midland Campus offers exceptional apprenticeship and skills training – providing the industry with a vital, highly-qualified workforce. Muskoka Campus offers Pre-health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees. Orangeville Campus offers full-time and part-time studies, corporate training, and academic upgrading. Orillia Campus offers an array of programs and houses a library, meditative labyrinth, and a veterinary clinic.

Owen Sound Campus is known for its Centre for Marine Training and Research and Marine Emergency Duties Centre. South Georgian Bay Campus provides a number of programs and has 20,000 square feet of learning space, community room, computer labs, nursing simulation lab. All the campuses have first-class infrastructure and provide students with an environment that encourages fast and efficient learning.

Georgian College provides more than 130 industry-oriented programs in various areas of education such as automotive business, management, computer studies, community safety, design, visual arts, health, engineering, environmental technologies, sciences, hospitality, tourism, liberal arts, human services, indigenous studies, skilled trades, and marine studies.

The college houses over 13,000 students, including 3,600 foreign students belonging to 85 countries across the world. The college has an average class size of 26 students and grants scholarships and bursaries of $3 million annually. It has a high graduate employment rate with a track record of 89.7% of graduates employed within six months of graduation in the academic session of 2018-19.

Georgian College has more than 80,000 alumni across the world, including many who have successfully made their mark in the industry. Ali Khonsari is the vice-president of Image Dental Laboratory. Darryl Hindle is the owner and founder of Quench Buggy. Eve Northmore is the Women's Snowboard Federation's co-founder. Don Komarechka is a successful photographer who has been featured with David Suzuki on 'The Nature of Things'. Tara Andrews is the operator and owner of Beyond Buoyancy Aquatics. Nicole Saulnier is the owner of Georgian Bay Airways. Jon Montgomery is an Olympic gold medalist and a television host. Many other distinguished personalities have graduated from Georgian College.
