Advertising/Posting Title Assistant Director for Business Operations
Posting Summary The Assistant Director for Business Operations is a key member of the Division of Student Affairs (DOSA) Business Operations team, responsible for human resources management, financial administration, and general business operations for the Vice Provost and Dean of Students (VPDOS) Office, the Office of Student and Community Relations (OSCR), and the Center for Student Conduct (CSC). Working closely with departmental staff and leadership, the Assistant Director administers a full range of HR and financial operations for these offices. The Assistant Director serves as the primary liaison between these departments and central university offices.

In addition to departmental responsibilities, the Assistant Director plays an active role in strengthening business operations across the division. This includes designing and standardizing business processes and tools that promote consistency and efficiency in financial and HR workflows division-wide; providing structured project management for complex, multi-stakeholder DOSA initiatives; and developing and delivering onboarding and training programs. Reporting to the Director of Business Operations, the Assistant Director brings operational expertise, a systems-oriented approach, and a continuous improvement mindset to support cohesion and operational excellence in business operations functions throughout the Division of Student Affairs.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3 years’ relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to actively engage in developing and implementing business processes that promote and support inclusion.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with standard productivity software (such as the Microsoft Office Suite), with intermediate to advanced knowledge of spreadsheet applications required.
  • Effective organizational skills and ability to think critically, plan effectively, and problem solve.
  • Familiarity with human resources and budget management.
  • Experience with enterprise HR and financial software.

Responsible for promoting an inclusive environment and experience for students and staff of all races, ethnicities, religions, national origins, genders, sexual orientations, abilities, and ages. Responsible for supporting the mission, philosophies, and priorities of DOSA and UVM.
Desirable Qualifications Experience working in a higher education setting.
Anticipated Pay Range $62,000-$68,000
