Full time permanent contract

Closing date: 23:59 30 September 2026

Interview date: 27 October. The interview will include a tour of the Library prior to meeting the interview panel.

This role is not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship. The successful candidate(s) will have to ensure that they have the right to work in the UK or be able to secure this through another means without the sponsorship of the University. Further information about sponsorship is available on the UK Visas and Immigration Website.  

Do you enjoy working with people and providing a great customer service and environment? If so, we are looking for people like you to be a part of our Library team as an Attendant. You will help us maintain a safe, secure and clean environment for Library users to work in by undertaking basic maintenance/cleaning and security duties as well as providing Reception Desk services and participating in retrieval and re-shelving of Library materials on and off-site.

You will have:

  • Ability to cope with the physical requirements of the role (working largely on foot, manual handling, see Job Description and Person Specification for full information)
  • Good written communication skills for reporting issues and incidents clearly and accurately
  • An attention to detail for noticing issues in the building that need attention
  • Experience of working in a security or reception role
  • Good general education to GCSE standard or equivalent
  • Experience of general cleaning duties including public conveniences
  • Good interpersonal and oral communication skills for dealing with enquiries, user behaviour issues, and working with colleagues
