About the position
We are looking for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) candidate to join the mixed reality and co-design (MR-CD) research strand of the Designing Learning Spaces for Diversity, Inclusion and Participation ARC Linkage Project.Â
The successful candidate will (1) undertake their PhD at Bond University (Gold Coast), with co-supervision by researchers at the University of Melbourne (UoM) and (2) be granted a scholarship.
Mixed reality co-design and testing of inclusive design elements/spaces
The mixed reality co-design and testing research strand will develop a mixed reality (i.e., augmented reality/virtual reality) interface to support architects in working more effectively with key stakeholders when designing inclusive learning spaces. Key stakeholders may include people with disabilities, carers and families, school communities, education departments, etc.
The research will include designing, prototyping and testing a mixed reality environment, which involves identifying and constructing ‘personas’ from field data to simulate spatial behaviour and preference characteristics. This includes collaborating with architect partners and other PhD candidates of the ARC project to develop a co-designing platform. The process may involve the use of predictive modelling using reinforced machine learning.
