Working Title Music Appreciation Adjunct (Applicant Pool)

Position Status Part Time Department School of Liberal Arts and Education General Summary Teaches Music Appreciation courses that introduce students to the fundamental elements, styles, genres, and historical development of music. Provides instruction that helps students develop an understanding and appreciation of music as an art form and its significance within historical, cultural, and social contexts. Utilizes a variety of instructional methods and resources to engage students, facilitate learning, and support achievement of course learning outcomes. Evaluates student performance, provides meaningful feedback, and maintains a positive and inclusive learning environment. Specific Position Duties

  • Identify musical works and elements across a variety of musical styles.
  • Analyze the elements and structures of music using appropriate terminology.
  • Evaluate the influence of social, political, technological, and cultural ideas on music.
  • Explain the significance of music as an art form within historical, cultural, and social contexts.
  • Deliver course instruction in accordance with the curriculum and course requirements established by the college.
  • Utilize Blackboard, preferably Blackboard Ultra, to support course instruction and student learning.
  • Communicate effectively with students through strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Foster an engaging learning environment that supports student understanding and academic success.
  • The curriculum for this course is provided by the college. Candidates must be technically proficient in Blackboard, preferably Blackboard Ultra, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
