The Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares Carlos III (F.S.P.) CNIC has been conceived to develop research of excellence, competitive and of international relevance in relation to cardiovascular diseases. The CNIC has a research centre of 24,000 m2, located in Madrid, with more than 6,000 m2 for laboratories equipped with a state-of-the-art infrastructure and equipment.

A predoctoral position is available to join the “Cardiac tissue engineering and regenerative therapies” laboratory led by Dr. Florian Weinberger. More information of the group at:

Functions:

The selected candidate will work on a project investigating the effect of non- myocytes on cardiac cell cycle activity in stem-cell derived engineered heart tissue. Work will involve the culture of iPS cells, use of molecular and biology techniques and microscopy techniques as well as data analysis.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Graduate in Biomedical and related areas.
  • Master´s degree in the fields of biomedical sciences, at the time of the formalization of the contract.
  • Admission to a doctoral program at the time of contract formalization.
  • Not having exhausted the maximum of 4 years of contract under the same predoctoral type of contract in accordance with Article 21 of the Science Law.
  • Not already holding a Doctorate degree from any Spanish or foreign university.
  • Valuable Requirements:

    C1. Knowledge human induced pluripotent stem cell culture.

    C2. Knowledge in cardiac differentiation from pluripotent stem cells and cardiac tissue engineering.

    C3. Knowledge in molecular biology.

    C4. Knowledge in microscopy techniques.

    C5. Knowledge in data analysis).

    C6. Mobility and internationalization.

    C7. Interview.

    Positive action: a correction index of 1.5 is established for each year of experience in the evaluation of the number of years in those criteria where experience is evaluated, in the event that the disable person greater than 66% and 1.2 in the event that the disable person greater than 30%.

    The RESOLUTION OF THE SECRETARIAT OF STATE FOR PUBLIC FUNCTION APPROVING THE COMMON ACTION CRITERIA FOR THE RECRUITMENT PROCESSES IN THE STATE PUBLIC SECTOR ENTITIES of April 11, 2022, sets forth in point 6.1 that “Unless a specific regulation establishes a merit-bases recruitment system (“concurso”), the competition (“concurso-oposición”) must be the recruitment system”.

    In CNIC, the specific regulations approved by the Foundation's board of trustees establish a merit-based recruitment system (“concurso”) including a personal interview.

    At least the 3 candidates with the highest score (as long as they reach the minimum of 60 points as a sum of criteria C1‐C6) will be interviewed. The candidate with the highest score will be hired given the total score (C1-C7) is 80 points or higher.

    Scoring criteria:

    C3 - Knowledge in molecular biology (direct experience related to these areas which will be assessed as a whole on a time/specialty ratio) - 10%

    C4 - Knowledge in microscopy techniques (direct experience related to these areas which will be assessed as a whole on a time/specialty ratio) - 10%

    C5 - Knowledge in data analysis (direct experience related to these areas which will be assessed as a whole on a time/specialty ratio) - 10%

    C6 - Mobility and internationalization (it will be assessed according to number and time of international scientific stays) - 10%

    C7 - Interview - 20%
