  • This post is full‑time, working 35 hours per week, and is a fixed‑term maternity cover until 30 June 2027.

Are you passionate about creating fairer, healthier and more sustainable streets? Would you like your research to help shape mobility policy and practice across Europe?

The University of Westminster is a leading modern university with a strong commitment to research, innovation and real-world impact. The School of Architecture + Cities brings together expertise in planning, transport, sustainability and the built environment to address contemporary urban challenges.

We are seeking a Research Fellow to join the Horizon Europe-funded 'JUST STREETS Project' (Mobility Justice for All: Framing Safer, Healthier and Happier Streets).

You will join an international team working with researchers, cities and communities across Europe to promote more inclusive and sustainable urban mobility. As the project enters its final stage, this is an exciting opportunity to contribute to research with real-world impact.

You will support research, impact evaluation, stakeholder engagement and dissemination activities, helping to deliver the final phase of this major Horizon Europe project.

This role offers the opportunity to:

    • Contribute to an internationally recognised research project.
    • Work with leading academic, policy and city partners across Europe.
    • Support research that helps inform policy and practice.
    • Help maximise the project's impact and long-term legacy.
    • Develop your experience within a collaborative international research environment.

You will hold a PhD, or be close to completion, in a relevant discipline such as Transport Studies, Urban Planning, Geography, Architecture, Sustainability, Social Sciences or a related field. Equivalent research experience will also be considered.

    You will bring:

    • Experience of delivering high-quality research.
    • Strong analytical and communication skills.
    • Experience of producing research outputs for a range of audiences.
    • The ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary and international environment.
    • An interest in sustainable mobility, social justice and urban transformation.

Experience of externally funded research projects, stakeholder engagement, impact evaluation or knowledge exchange activities would be advantageous.

If you are looking for an opportunity to contribute to research that supports more equitable, sustainable and people-centred streets, we would welcome your application.
