Research Staff / Academic Staff in the field of Development and Validation of an Automated System for Steel Cord Splice Manufacturing and Quality Assurance

The Institute of Transport and Automation Technology conducts research into a wide range of topics in the field of bulk material handling. A particular focus is placed on the investigation of conveyor belts and their splices, especially the analysis of dynamic splice strength and the development and evaluation of suitable methods for increasing strength and reliability. At the Garbsen site, close collaboration with other research institutions, mechanical engineering institutes and industrial partners provides an excellent environment for high-level research.

The Institute of Transport and Automation Technology at the Production Engineering Centre Hannover welcomes applications for the following position available from 1 November 2026 or earlier: Research Staff / Academic Staff in the field of Development and Validation of an Automated System for Steel Cord Splice Manufacturing and Quality Assurance (salary scale 13 TV-L, 100 %)

The fixed-term position is initially limited to four years, with the possibility of an extension. The position also offers the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree (Dr.-Ing.).

Your role

Who are we looking for?

You hold a university degree (Master's or equivalent) in mechanical engineering, mechatronics or a comparable STEM discipline. Applicants with relevant professional experience, particularly in conveyor belt technology, conveyor belt manufacturing or splicing technology, are explicitly encouraged to apply. Knowledge of belt conveyor technology, measurement technology, automation technology or data analysis is an advantage, but not a prerequisite.
