About the Role:

Based at our Chelmsford campus, you’ll join the Microsoft 365 and Aligned Cloud Services team within Digital Solutions & Services, the directorate behind the technology that ARU’s students and colleagues use every day. Working alongside our Lead Technical Analyst and fellow analysts, you’ll administer our Microsoft 365 environment, identity and access management, cloud telephony and security tooling. You’ll configure, maintain and improve these services, integrate them with our on-campus systems, and keep them resilient and secure. When an issue moves beyond first-line support you’ll be the person who investigates and resolves it, and you’ll be the escalation point colleagues turn to during major incidents. A significant share of your time will go into University projects and improvement work, including how we adopt and govern artificial intelligence tools such as Microsoft Copilot, so this is a role where you help shape our services as well as run them.

You’ll bring practical experience of administering a medium to large-scale Microsoft 365 tenancy, along with knowledge of managing and securing Microsoft Entra ID alongside a local Active Directory deployment, and of the collaboration services that sit on top of it, such as Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams and OneDrive. You’ll have experience of making services and data resilient and secure, effective organisational skills to prioritise your own work, and the communication skills to explain complex technical ideas clearly to people who aren’t technical. You’ll hold a degree with relevant experience, or be part-qualified in a relevant professional qualification with relevant experience, together with evidence of keeping your skills current. Microsoft certifications, service management qualifications and experience of Higher Education are all welcome, though none of them are essential. In return you’ll have the scope to develop your specialism further, working on cloud security, artificial intelligence governance and unified communications as the University continues to build on these platforms.
