| Job Summary/Basic Function | The Center for Community Engaged Learning (CCEL) at Weber State University engages students in co-creating transformative learning experiences by collaborating with the university and community to cultivate impactful and lasting changes in themselves and society. We envision a world where students intentionally learn and actively participate with(in) communities they care for and love. We do this work by being collaborative, socially responsible, reflective, curious, and relational. As a Carnegie-classified institution for community engagement, Weber State University is committed to community engagement both inside and outside the classroom and to serving as an anchor institution with the communities we serve. At CCEL, we value team members who bring creative ideas, are ready to contribute to our new strategic plan, and can adapt to the needs of the department, the institution, and our communities. To meet our mission and vision, we are seeking to add to our team. The Student Engagement Coordinator manages and coordinates CCEL student leadership programs and large days of service events. More specifically, this position manages two CCEL student programs: Pathways Fellows Leadership Program (leadership development, training, advising, program support, etc.) and the Alternative Breaks Program (site selection, leadership development, recruitment, training, program support, etc.). The person hired in this position will have the opportunity to shape the student leadership programs in ways that align with institutional, local, and national best practices. This position also leads the organization, implementation, marketing, and recruitment of large days of service for the WSU campuses. This position also supports and advises students who are awarded funds from the CCEL Hall Grant and CCEL scholarships, where appropriate. Occasionally, this position will be asked to facilitate workshops and educational seminars to student leadership teams, classrooms, and campus events related to CCEL’s mission. Lastly, this position serves on various campus and local committees that focus on student engagement, travel, scholarships, and community engagement opportunities for students. The position will have the opportunity to participate in and travel to local and national professional development opportunities. This position will receive administrative support from the department’s administrative specialist and department student employees. Additional support is included within the department team, community personnel, and other campus partners. Where appropriate, the position may supervise future interns to support programs that align with the needs of the department. |
