About the job:

The China Medical University – Queen’s University of Belfast Joint College (CQC) was established through a long-standing partnership between Queen’s School of Pharmacy and China Medical University (CMU) and most recently, School of Biological Sciences.

The postholder will play a key role in delivering high-quality English Language instruction, including English for Academic Purposes (EAP), IELTS preparation classes and English for Scientific Academic Purposes (ESAP) programmes across the four programmes at our Campus in Shenyang.

This post is Term Time only, based on the Academic Calendar in China, Semester 1 (18 weeks) which runs from late August/early September through to the Christmas break and Semester 2 (17 weeks) which runs from late February/early March through to graduation at the end of June.

About the person:

The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree and a recognised ELT/EAP teaching qualification, such as DELTA, PGCE TESOL or equivalent, together with experience of teaching and assessing ELT and/or EAP students across a range of levels in higher education or a comparable setting, in the UK or internationally. Experience of developing and delivering effective online learning resources is also essential.

Candidates should have a sound knowledge and practical understanding of ELT/EAP language learning, teaching, assessment and course-material design, and be able to apply current good practice to teaching delivery, assessment and the development of learning materials. They should demonstrate the ability to assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, support the development of students’ academic English and literacy skills, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of courses and teaching methods.

Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, strong interpersonal and organisational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with students, colleagues and other stakeholders are required. Candidates should also be able to contribute effectively to relevant course-management and administrative activities. The postholder must be willing and able to work at CQC in Shenyang, China during term time and be eligible to obtain the necessary work permit or entry documentation. Experience of teaching Chinese students, particularly within a higher education context, would be advantage.
