World-first “Cybercrime Index” ranks countries by cybercrime threat level

October 19, 2024

The Index, published today in the journal PLOS ONE, shows that a relatively small number of countries house the greatest cybercriminal threat. Countries ranked by their World Cybercrime Index (WCI) score, according to the study. Figuring out why some countries are cybercrime hotspots, and others aren't, is the next stage of the research. The other co-authors of the study include Professor Ridhi Kashyap from the University of Oxford and Professor Nigel Phair from Monash University. The study ‘Mapping the global geography of cybercrime with the World Cybercrime Index’ has been published in the journal PLOS ONE.
